Thank you for posting these! Glad to know I am not the only one whose horizons are always crooked. I have to go back and edit my photos to straighten the horizon every single time. They always lean the same way, though, so I've tried paying attention, and it works sometimes. But your idea of using the grid sounds so much easier! So I appreciate you talking about it, I will have to try it (as soon as I figure out how to set it up).

You're welcome!

Same here, I have a tilt towards one side but now I'm more conscious about it and fix it in camera.

What sort of photography do you like doing?

Such a helpful article Janice! Having the explanation behind why each technique works allows us to start seeing the photo possibilities that are all around us.

One topic that could be helpful for a future article is learning how to expose properly, either with a camera or phone, and the tools you may use. As someone who predominantly shoots with their phone, this can be tricky depending on the light.

Thanks @Damon Blankenship !

And thank you for the article suggestion, adding it to my list :D

Would you prefer to have articles written about getting better at phone photography specifically, or both phone and “big cameras”?

No problem Janice! Always happy to help!

I think it would be helpful to have both. Possibly starting with what everyone has (Phone) and then applying those same principles to a “bigger camera”.

Being able to understand the principles of exposure with a phone but then learning what those technical settings that phone does for us automatically on a traditional camera that we would manually set.

Regardless of the tool, it’s the understanding of technique and what to look for that makes photographers great.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Always happy to chat!

I want to see about adding the grid to my camera to make sure everything is angled and positioned just right!

Oh yes, photography is my favorite hobby! I try to bring my "big camera" with me, but also love just taking photos and videos with my iPhone when traveling.

I know what you mean! I used to only take photos with the "big camera" too.

But these days, I treat camera phone photography as it's own creative challenge. Especially when phone camera these days are SOO good!
